Our Story

When Nick turned eight years old, he was surprised by news from his mother that he would not be the only child anymore. Nick was delighted to hear the news because as an only child, things were pretty lonely. In November of that same year, his little sister, Kattie, was born, giving him the chance of hold her and see her beautiful eyes. Later, Kattie was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia. The pain associated with sickle cell should not be experienced by anyone.

My sister, now in her 30's, experiences crisis that leaves her in major levels of pain. My little sister is strong willed, funny, God fearing and compassionate and I have met so many like her. To our fellow customers, there is so much to be said when it comes to life with sickle cell, but I only ask for you to join us in the fight to eliminate sickle cell so that it will never rob and/or hinder the life of another child…so that no other parent will have to wonder if their child will survive a crisis. This is how you can get involved:

Why Support SCDAA?

Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a genetic blood disorder that affects millions of people worldwide, particularly those of African, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Indian ancestry. It causes red blood cells to become misshapen and break down, leading to severe pain, infections, and other serious health complications. These complications could lead to death.
